This is a place for all sorts of off-topic discussion.

You can post anon or un-anon, per your personal preference, as usual.

All I ask is that you stay civil and (hopefully) friendly.

If you also want to use this thread to try to find a beta for a fic, or ask a brit-pick-ish question, I think that would be an acceptable use. Have fun!

Yes. HELLO EVERYONE.
Someone talk to me while my nail polish is drying! :D
:)

How did you find out about Sherlock BBC, anyways?
I stumbled upon a fanart (Check it out! and then looked for it on the Internet. After that, I was lost... *sigh*

I found out about Sherlock when prompts involving it started popping up on the other meme. Because I spend 99.9% of my life on kink memes, apparently. I like to think of it as a benign addiction.

What colour is your nail polish? :D

I live in the UK, and there were 4658127492847651387 adverts for it. And those ads made me think, okay, I have never read a single Sherlock Holmes story, or watched a single adaptation, but by god that looks like it'll be good.

I follow Moffat on Twitter and he mentioned it. I would have seen the ads (being UKish) but alas I was in America at the time. I also broke my laptop trying to watch TGG over there.

A friend of mine was like "OMG YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS SHOW." I'd never heard of either of the actors before.

Oh, and I did give her chocolate as thanks. Conversely, I also yelled at her when she neglected to tell me that the next episode was in a year. Poor girl. =D

I found out about it ages before it aired from nay sayers who thought it would suck. I started watching it when it started airing and my flist exploded with glee. ^^

pocky_slash

SHE WROTE THIS INSANE TW/BBC-S CROSSOVER, AND I WAS LIKE, SHIT, THIS IS CLEARLY A SIGN THAT HOWEVER HARD I TRY I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AVOID EVENTUALLY WATCHING SHERLOCK. SO, AFTER RESISTING THE NEW-FANDOM LURE FOR MONTHS, I GAVE IN.

TRUFAX.

There was some fangirling on my flist after the premiere and I added it to my "watch this, maybe someday" list. Then a friend posted a lengthy rant about the treatment of women and the overt and problematic orientalism and exoticization in the second episode, which is actually what prompted me to watch it much sooner. I ended up largely agreein with her, but my abject love for most of the rest of the series means I'm here anyway. (Said friend, I think, also enjoyed most of the rest of the series, but TBB was a deal-breaker for her.)

I think there was a link on the Inception Kink Meme and I had a hello, goodbye moment with my old and new fandoms. My friends were talking about Sherlock for days and it was only when I watched the third episode (THAT CLIFFHANGER!) that I got super into Sherlock fandom.

I must say, I expected way more Holmes/Moriarty, though.

I read about it on TVtropes, and thought it looked cool. Plus, I'm a big fan of Doctor Who, especially Moffat's work on it, and it's gonna be a while before the next DW is out.

CAPTCHA: prochose protits. Yes, I think we're all pro-tits here.

Steven Moffat mentioned it in one of those adorable little interviews he did with his son. :) Anybody know them?

I'm a big Moffat fangirl, really. I'll watch anything that comes from him except Jekyll.

I found it when someone said "This is based off BBC's new series Sherlock" when I was reading Sherlock Holmes fanfiction on Fanfiction.net.

I was like, "WUT?! -googles!-" I don't even remember the Fic I read.

I found the show from browsing Doctor Who communities. People said the first ep was good, so I watched it.

Don't remember how I got to the kink meme, but I'd guess it was from the bbcsherlock or sherlockbc communities. I distinctly remember being here during the first part, though.

I saw this and was like MUST FIND OUT WHAT THE BACK STORY OF THIS IS!

Re: Dümdüm. (Anonymous) Expand
Hello,

I was listening to "Fresh Air" on NPR and they reviewed it. The moment the reviewer stated that one "Benedict Cumberbatch" was playing the lead, I had to find out who in the world would could possibly be named "Benedict Cumberbatch." So, I made it a point to watch the show and the rest is history.
