This is a place for all sorts of off-topic discussion.

You can post anon or un-anon, per your personal preference, as usual.

All I ask is that you stay civil and (hopefully) friendly.

If you also want to use this thread to try to find a beta for a fic, or ask a brit-pick-ish question, I think that would be an acceptable use. Have fun!

Have anyone of you read this article? :D Gatiss, left us again, with some clues as to how the knew season would look like. He said Moffat is working on a veirsion of Scandal in Bohemia and added that Moffat wanted to write a twisted love stroy. And I know some of you don't like the idea of Iren Adler and Sherlock getting romantically invovled with each other. Though I don't think there will be any explicit love scenes, like kissing and hugging, as the word 'twisted' might suggest, but I think it's quite possible that there would be some not-so-obvious intellectual and even physical attraction to each other on both parts in the next season. What do you think?

Hi! I'm looking for a fic, I'm not sure if it was posted on the meme, but...
it's basically John and Sherlock are together, but John prefers to sleep in his own bed and Sherlock angst about it.

Reminder time. Part 10 this time.

Part 10 is less than 200 posts away from being filled up... which would make it the 6th part out of 13 to achieve that -- *High fives*

Seriously, does anyone know another kinkmeme this big? Even Startrek only had 120,000 comments.

Re: Reminder time. Part 10 this time.

inception_kink (♥!) is pretty big.

This is probably a weird place to ask...

(Anonymous)
...being the discussion page for a kink meme and all, but I've got to ask somewhere...

Is anybody out there honestly grossed-out by the idea of sex? I mean, I know this a weird question, but...

Well, I went and saw Black Swan today, and {spoiler} there's a scene where Lily eats out Nina, and I literally felt I'll at that. Thinking about it, I realized that I've felt similarly uneasy/grossed out by other sex/sex-type-activity scenes on this meme, other memes, and the romance novels I've read. (I usually skip the sex- I genuinely read it for the plot). Nothing gets me "off" because I can't stand sex scenes...

Does anyone else feel like that?

I'm not sure why, too... Is it because I'm still a virgin, or something else? (and there are no under-lying traumatic events in my past that would help me get it).

I would think I was maybe ace, but most of what I've learned about being ace is that it's a disinterest in sex, and not physical revulsion... Does anyone have any ideas? Are my learnings on being ace flawed? If they are, are there any websites/books you would recommend? Sorry... T_T

(I don't even know why I'm posting this here... But you guys are all awesome, so it's a "safe-space" for me. Thank you guys, and I love you all!)

Re: This is probably a weird place to ask...

(Anonymous)
You may be, but I would advise that you explore your sexuality before you decide. You might not enjoy reading or watching sex, but you could find that when you are with someone you trust you enjoy sexual contact. You can't really find that out without trying. I know this response will get jumped on by all the aces on the meme, but really, don't limit yourself to a sexless life because of stuff you read on the internet. Try things in real life.

I have a very friendly friend. He's friendly with everyone. I cannot tell if he was flirting with me today or not, but if he was I blew it on picking up the clues. I doubt he was because he's friendly with everyone equally, and I'm repulsive. But I feel like I missed something even though it's ridiculous to think so.

I just want my stupid brain to stop thinking I can have a romantic relationship.

Everyone can have romantic relationships, if they want them. But being down on yourself will totally make it more likely you'll miss signals anyone else is giving out.

No idea whether this guy was or not, but if he's a good friend, why not just ask? You're only as awkward/unattractive as you think you are. Confidence helps a lot. Really, truly does.

Sexual people!

(Anonymous)
If you are in a romantic or sexual relationship, what percentage would you say that you think about your SO while masturbating? Do you have a more idealised image when going solo? Or can you get off while thinking about something totally unrelated, like the dinner you had earlier? Is it something you ever talk about with your SO?

I realise it's probably different for everyone, but it'd useful if I can get a general idea. It may be very relevant to a fic I'm writing...

Re: Sexual people!

(Anonymous)
I very, very rarely think about my SO when masturbating. I've never told my current partner this, because they have some body image and self-confidence issues, and would take that to mean I don't find them attractive, which isn't the case.

My masturbatory fantasies often aren't directly sex-related, anyway, and the people in them are generally just non-specific and faceless.

Hurts so good

(Anonymous)
I'm looking for some recs for the best fics that make you cry, make your heart ache, or make you feel like you need to cuddle a million kittens in order to feel better.

Come have a good cry with me, anons :)

I meet you there, and then we go by Irisbleufic. There's three stories in the series and here's the link to the first one. Heed the spoilers!

Re: Anger management

(Anonymous)
The ones I'm tracking seem to be more angsty than violent, but here:

http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/4777.html?thread=13855401#t13855401
(I think this one might have been reprompted, but I can't find the reprompt in the prompts I'm tracking)

(bdsm edgeplay)

If none of those help, see if you can get a roast chicken and debone it with your bare hands. ...Unless you're a vegetarian, in which case I've heard violence against zucchini can be therapeutic too.

Re: WHAT, SON?

AHAHA, can't unsee. XD

Doctor Who fans?

(Anonymous)
I'm pretty certain there's a fairly sizeable fanbase of Who fans here as well. Okay, so my question:

If a utter and complete noob (like me) would like to start watching the show, where should I start? All my knowledge of the series is pretty much summed up by Mr. Gaiman: “No, look, there’s a blue box. It’s bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. It can go anywhere in time and space and sometimes even where it’s meant to go. And when it turns up, there’s a bloke in it called The Doctor and there will be stuff wrong and he will do his best to sort it out and he will probably succeed cos he’s awesome.”

I mean, it's been around since... god, since my parents, but I don't suppose I need to start from episode one of season one to get the hang of it? (I hope?)

Re: Doctor Who fans?

Well, I'm an old school Who fan so Id say yes but it's like 40 years of eps lol so I say start with Nine (Christopher Eccleston), the first ep of the "reboot".

Was this the wrong thing to do?

(Anonymous)
Okay, so I read this http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/8651.html?thread=38189515#t38189515 prompt and did a mini-fill. My first ever fill of anything sherlock. Actually, my first fanfic. I read the prompt and the idea came to me in a second. I know the writing is lacking, not that great...

Heres my problems:

1) It's in no way kinky. Is that bad? Should it have been since this is a kink meme?
2) I've never written fiction before. Very long story short, I have issues with grammer and writing due to a stroke. I thought that trying my hand at creative writing in an anon place might be a good idea. But...people want good fills. Should I not do this here?
3) after reading the prompt again, I realized that the prompter most likely wanted something where john did something mean/bad/percieved as awful to Sherlock and much groveling was wanted. I didn't do that. Was that wrong??

I'm a bit concerned because while I know my writimg realllllly needs improvement, I don't want to piss off the prompter.

Please be honest with me.

Thanks

Re: Was this the wrong thing to do?

(Anonymous)
1) No, it isn't 'bad'. 'Kink' has a broad definition. We have gen and vanilla fic, just look around.
2) Perhaps get someone to look over it first, if you're that worried.
3) Ask the OP. Some people are more relaxed, and expect fillers to read their minds and get it exactly as they imagined. You won't know until you ask.

Gentlemen?

(Anonymous)
This fandom seems very female-dominated. Are there any male fans at all?

Me, kind of. And I can think of about seven or eight others off the top of my head.
