Giggles at the Palace
This is a place for all sorts of off-topic discussion.

You can post anon or un-anon, per your personal preference, as usual.

All I ask is that you stay civil and (hopefully) friendly.

If you also want to use this thread to try to find a beta for a fic, or ask a brit-pick-ish question, I think that would be an acceptable use. Have fun!

Another London question

Sorry if this has been asked before but where do you think is John's surgery located? Would John get there by underground or by bus?

Re: Another London question

It really could be anywhere and accessible by bus/tube or both. That gives you the freedon to write anything you want.

OK, anoners answer me this question: What do you consider the most out-there crack the meme has brought you?

I'd say Anderson/Dinosaurs, but now it's morphed into such a common thing I no longer consider it crack.

For the me, the most insane crack ever has to be Sherlock and John as lobsters, right up there with the anthropomorphic clothes, phones, and dildo (not in the same fic, alas).

I second the lobsters and raise you sprinkles porn.

('dort plebi' - apparently Mycroft is not impressed)

Lestrade's First Name

Gregory is sort of unofficial-canon because of Mark Gatiss' thoughts on the subject.
And barring that Gabriel seems to be quite popular

I love both these names but here's my dilemma: I've got a father named Gregory and an Uncle Gabriel...and I just can't in good conscience, no matter how hard I try, write porn using those names.

So I was just wondering what sort of alternatives you guys would be ok with for our favorite DI's first name.

Re: Lestrade's First Name

I remember Gareth being tossed around a long time ago in a thread parts and parts away

I reckon the meaning of that name fits his character pretty well:
- It is of Welsh origin, and the meaning of Gareth is gentle. Sir Gareth, noted for his modesty and bravery, was a knight of King Arthur's Round Table.

How's that?

Looking for author

The author of this:

Stunning work entitled 'studies in light' has apparently disappeared.

Of all works written on this meme--this is one of my favorites--if not the the favorite.

If anyone knows who this author is, or if you are reading here---please continue this. You have amazing talent.

Thank you

Re: Looking for author

If anon is the person who I think it is, then they've disappeared completely from LJ, if not fandom in general.

I hope I'm wrong about their identity because it's also my favourite story on the meme.

Is LJ still playing up or is it just my computer - because seriously, this is ridiculous (whichever's fault it ends up being)

It seems like it's still an ongoing thing and might be for awhile.

I passed my driving test by pretending I was Elwood Blues on a mission from God.

Congrats. I bunged up mine by pretending I was Sydney Bristow on a mission from Vaughn...

Fic search!

I was reading a fabulous fic a few parts back about Sherlock setting John up on a series of dates. One of them was with Victor Trevor, and ended with a trip to hospital... Can someone link me? I've somehow lost it!

Persona 3 is pretty cool

I'd say you should probably comment - otherwise they'll keep expecting something.

This prompt (http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/7277.html?thread=37846637#t37846637) reminded me of something I thought I'd heard before but my google-fu is not strong.

Were waiting rooms at train stations popular places for gay men to hook up in Victorian times?

Sources/links to info would be greatly appreciated!

They were and I think most books on gay Victorian Britain cover it. Robb? maybe.

The local history book about my local railway station covers it too.

Am I just making this up, or was there a Clover (as in, the CLAMP manga) crossover prompt/fill somewhere on this meme?

On John's blog and Sherlock's forum I always assumed that:
Anonymous = Mycroft
theimprobableone = Moriarty

Does anyone else have opinions about these identities?

I always thought:

Anonymous = Moriarty
theimprobableone = Moriarty on his troll account, or someone we haven't seen in the show yet.

Hm, but Mycroft as Anonymous sounds like a good idea too...

Does anyone know if there's a delicious account for unfilled prompts? I seem to remember someone starting one, but I can't find the link to it.

(I just went through every page of the prompts post looking for prompts on a specific subject, and I'm hoping to avoid that the next time I'm searching for something.)

i think mr_x_indeed was thinking of doing one? I don't know what happened to it though.

Re: Fic search: Trigger for rape fantasy mentioned

There were two fills for this prompt (http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/5564.html?thread=19911612#t19911612):

Syncope: http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/5564.html?thread=19911612#t19911612
Experimentation: http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/5564.html?thread=20316092#t20316092

Neither have been updated since January and that makes me very, very sad.

There are so many people on lj... can't we all gather together and start a DDoS attack on the Russian government's official homepage? Just to annoy them a little bit? A see-what-you-did-there-Vladimir sort of thing?
