This is a place for all sorts of off-topic discussion.

You can post anon or un-anon, per your personal preference, as usual.

All I ask is that you stay civil and (hopefully) friendly.

If you also want to use this thread to try to find a beta for a fic, or ask a brit-pick-ish question, I think that would be an acceptable use. Have fun!

Am I the only person who likes the wallpaper in 221B?

I really want the rug + armchair combination, too.

No, you're not.

It's like what you'd get if you took the Pushing Daisies aesthetic, sucked out the color saturation, and took away its prozac. And I kinda like it.

ive been in the mood for J/S cuddling fluff for a while now :3 any good recommendations?

Re: Recs?

From what I've seen so far, this will lead to cuddling and it already has a form of it. Nice bath scene and sherlock taking car of John
It's still in progress. Some problems, but quite good:

Please help: quick brit-pick question

I am writing a scenario where S/J are in the flat and the electricity goes off. Sherlock looks out the window and sees that all of bakerstreet and beyond is out.

Now, is this realistic? Would the whole street go(from a terrible storm)? Would only certain houses go?

How would he phrase it to John? I know you don't say 'block' so what would he say to inform John that 'everything' is out?

Is the word it called a torch instead of a flashlight?

How long would it normally take--remember this is a loss from a storm--for the electricity to go on?

Thank you in advance.
This is for a work that is already quite long.

Also... I know html but, I cannot seem to get the first sentence of every paragraph to indent. Is there a way to indent while staying anon in a comment fic?

Thanks again!

Re: Please help: quick brit-pick question

Hmmmmm... It could happen. He'd say the whole street was out. It is a torch, yes, and it can take any amount of time from ten minutes to a day.

I would say please do not indent. Double space like you have here.

Thank you! (Anonymous) Expand

New!Anon Is New

What's with all the jokes about someone winning "the game"? I gather this is some kind of pop-culture reference I don't get. (I also gather that I probably immediately lose this game by default for asking. :P)

Also: Is there some in-joke behind all the "John is a werewolf" prompts? There seems to be a statistically unlikely number of them. Or maybe people just really like werewolves...

For the game, this is a good site to explain it: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheGame

As for the 'werewolf' thing... I have no idea. Sorry~ (^_^);

Just a strange question...

Has anybody commented anonymously on their own post? Or...left feedback for themselves? Or seconded or even created a prompt just so you could fill it yourself?

I just wonder because this morning I got up and was all 'why didn't anyone comment on my fill yet, bawwww' and it occurred to me that if an author was desperate enough they could leave themselves an anon comment. I mean, nobody would ever know, right? And you could make your story seem super popular.

Or maybe it's just me, then, who has a mind this crazy thought would even cross. Hahaha I swear I wouldn't do it, but I do wonder... XD

Re: Just a strange question...

I've definitely been tempted to post a prompt just to fill it. But, usually, if I hunt long enough, I can find a prompt that matches what I've already written, anyway. So tempted, but haven't done it yet.

I'm also tempted to add further suggestions on one of the prompts I've made, just because they're things that didn't occur to me at the time. Don't know if I'll end up doing that one. :P

So far, I haven't been tempted to comment on my own fic, but we'll see. Anon inspires insanity, after all!

i wrote my first fic here a week ago after stumbling onto the meme by accident and i LOVE YOU GUYS. i've never been a part of a fandom before

Welcome to the madhouse!

Wingardium Levi-OH-sa

Do you pronounce Moran as Mor-AN or MOR-an, meme?

I always thought it was Mor-AN, but I've heard people say it the other way recently and it's confusing my poor ESL brain.

Re: Wingardium Levi-OH-sa

MOR-an, the way dylan moran does. unfortunately i'm american so this has the unintentional side-effect of making it sound like 'moron' in my west-coast drawl

Okay, poll time: How many prompts have you posted / fills have you created / fills received?

No judgments, I'm just curious!

I've posted four prompts and two fills. A third fill was for one of my own prompts, but considering how many people seconded the prompt, I figure it's for them. I'm currently working on a fill, making it four. No one has filled any of my prompts.

Thursday Next prompt search!

Was there at some point in one of the more recent parts a Thursday Next prompt? I swear I read a prompt that was related to the series but I don't think it was labeled as such, so I'm having a hard time finding it again. Please help me prove I'm not going crazy, meme!

Re: Thursday Next prompt search!

AFTER A LOT OF SEARCHING, I THINK I'VE FOUND IT: http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/5880.html?thread=23574008#t23574008

Am I imagining it, or is there a recent trend that leans toward more prompts about Lestrade?

I think there is, and I am really not complaining about that in any way. Keep it up, Lestrade prompter(s)!

Is it totally arrogent of me to ask...

For reviews? I don't want to seem like a whiny teen from The Pit of Voles but, this is my first Sherlock fic and I am almost certain sherlock is completely ooc. I am having fun with the work, it will be completed and it will have a sex scene.
However here's my problem: I've watched every episode of Sherlock. I even took some notes for further fics. However a great deal of fics i have seen(and now I think its become trope) has Sherlock almost totally lacking in emotions. I do see Sherlock use his emotions, and also have some pure lack of social graces. But I don't see him a one who lacks emotion, despite his self diagnosis. Several points in each episode prive this to me.
A man who is intently focused, who will tell the brutal truth, unafraid of others reactions...but also a caring man.
I am now thinking I see something totally different than others do or....its become so mucj trope(like the dinosaur) that people have begun to believe it.

I am writing my first fic. It has about four reviews. Thats fine. I just started the other day and have more to come. But I'm worried that my view of sherlock from the series is so...off that it is destroying the fic.
What should I do? Is it arrogent of me to ask for reviews...honest ones please? (but not I HATE THIS...if you really do hqte it let me know why).

Re: Is it totally arrogent of me to ask...

For what it's worth, I agree with how you see Sherlock (at least, what you say in this post. I haven't read your fic). He does have emotions and he does show them. It's obvious in several places in the show.

I do hope your spelling and formatting (spaces please) are better in your fic than in this post, because anything longer than what you have here would be too hard for me to read on a screen.

And finally, four reviews on a WIP is good. It's way better than I've gotten on completed fic.

Thought I'd share this random fun...

There's a glitch where Watson constantly follows Holmes around in the 2009 Sherlock Holmes game HERE.

Thanks goes to my oblivious male gamer friends, for accidentally referencing my ship in casual conversation. When they were thinking, "Such a ridiculous—and creepy—glitch", I was thinking, "Of course Watson wouldn't want Holmes to get too far away from him!" ♥

Oh...that IS creepy. And sort of awesome as well.

I'm a huge gamer but don't usually give any sort of book or movie related game a second look because...well, they usually suck. This however, tempts me. (And even has a decent score! http://www.gamespot.com/pc/adventure/sherlockholmestheawakened/index.html)

Headspace to finish WIPS

Okay, I'm going to knock them out all four of my WIPS currently on the meme... and maybe the three that I never posted on the meme because they were wips and I decided that WIPS were inherently evil.

I'm going to do it. I am.

I just need to remember how to string words together in coherent sentences.

Re: Headspace to finish WIPS

You can do it!

Don't mind me. Just trying to figure out which of my formatting options LJ won't kill while posting anon:

Italics should be fine.

What about typewriter?

How about small font size?

And large font size?

Can I start off small and end up big?
